Welam Academy, a private basic school located in Punyoro, Kassena-Nankana Municipality, hosted a colourful and well-attended maiden graduation ceremony for its Kindergarten Two (KG2) pupils on Friday, August 1.

The event, which ushered 48 young learners into the next stage of their academic journey, was held on the school’s premises under the theme: “Little Steps, Big Dreams, Our Journey Begins.” It brought together proud parents, guardians, teachers, pupils, and invited guests.

In his address, the proprietor of Welam Academy, Gilbert Bawolworikor, expressed appreciation to parents and stakeholders for their support and explained the significance of the occasion.

“Our theme for today’s graduation is Little Steps, Big Dreams, Our Journey Begins. This reminds us that the small steps we take here in Punyoro can grow into dreams that match international standards. We know it is not easy to send your children to a private school, but it is a worthy investment in their future.” He said

Bawolworikor emphasized that despite the financial challenges, private education provides a strong foundation for academic and personal success.

The chairman for the occasion, Morrison Brown Abakwile, who is also the proprietor of Fastlink Academy, commended Bawolworikor for his dedication and vision.

“I urge parents to understand that running a school is more of a social responsibility than a profit-making venture, Gilbert has come this far with your support. Please continue to encourage and stand with him.”

Welam Academy began operations in 2018 with just seven pupils. Today, the school boasts an enrolment of about 250 learners, reflecting its steady growth and community impact.

As part of the ceremony, awards were presented to outstanding pupils in categories such as Best Performer, Neatest Handwriting, Attendance Hero, Best Behaved, and Neatest Pupil, among others.

The event was marked by performances, poetry recitals, and cheers from proud parents, leaving a lasting memory in the hearts of the young graduates.
