The Upper East Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has received 42 entries from 18 individual Journalists for the 4th Regional GJA Awards, marking the highest participation since the awards began in 2019.
Submissions for the awards closed at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025. The entries span across various categories and media platforms including radio, television, print, and online publications.
According to the regional GJA Secretary, Anthony Adongo Apubeo in a statement, all submissions have been compiled and forwarded to the Vetting Committee, which has now commenced the evaluation process.
“The entries include works published or broadcast on radio, television, print, and online portals and cut across various categories. All submissions have since been compiled and forwarded to the Vetting Committee to commence the evaluation process.” Apubeo stated.

The regional GJA Chairman, Albert Sore, expressed satisfaction with the growing interest and participation in the annual awards.
“I am very happy that many people have showed interest in this year’s awards and making it very competitive. We have not had this number since we started our regional awards, and it is good that we are making a lot of progress,” Sore stated.
He commended Journalists across the region for submitting their works and encouraged all entrants as the vetting process unfolds.
“We also wish all entrants the very best as the Vetting Committee begins its work. May the Journalists who have demonstrated quality work win,” he added.

The 4th Regional GJA Awards is scheduled to take place on Friday, October 10, 2025, under the theme: “Upholding Public Trust: The Role of the Media in Promoting Accountable Governance in the Upper East Region.”
The annual event has become a key platform for recognising and celebrating outstanding Journalistic work in the region, while reinforcing the Association’s commitment to high standards of professionalism, accountability, and ethics in the media.
“The Regional GJA Awards will continue to serve as an important platform to recognise, reward, and inspire excellence in journalism in the Upper East Region, while reinforcing the Association’s commitment to professionalism, accountability, and ethical standards.”
