Upper East records 58 road accident deaths in 11 months, 76% victims male -NRSA

Out of the total fatalities, 44 victims, representing 76 percent, were males, while 14 victims, accounting for 24 percent, were females, highlighting a significant gender disparity in road traffic deaths within the period under review.

The Upper East Region recorded a total of 58 road accident deaths between January and November 2025, according to provisional statistics from the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA).

Out of the total fatalities, 44 victims, representing 76 percent, were males, while 14 victims, accounting for 24 percent, were females, highlighting a significant gender disparity in road traffic deaths within the period under review.

The NRSA data further shows that two- and three-wheeled vehicles accounted for a substantial number of crashes in the region. Between January and November 2025, 102 crashes involving bicycles, tricycles, and motorcycles were recorded.

Motorcycles recorded the highest number of incidents, with 87 crashes representing 85 percent of the total cases.

Tricycle-related crashes stood at 11, accounting for 11 percent, while bicycle crashes were four, representing 4 percent.

In all, the reported crashes resulted in 58 deaths and 127 injuries, raising renewed concerns about road safety, particularly the growing involvement of motorcycles in fatal and non-fatal accidents across the region.

The recent statistics show a slight reduction from last year’s statistics for the same period, where 114 cases were reported, with 60 deaths and 174 injured persons.
