UTAS announces official name change, directs stakeholders to adopt new name

The statement indicated that the change takes immediate effect and requires members of the university community to begin using the new name in all official documentation and communication.

The newly renamed University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Navrongo has formally announced a change in its institutional name following amendments to its establishing legislation by Parliament.

In a circular issued by the Office of the Registrar on March 16, 2026 signed by Abdul-Majeed Yussif, Senior Assistant Registrar and Head of University Relations, on behalf of the Registrar said the university informed its community and stakeholders that the amendment affects the previous legal framework of C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences.

“The Parliament of Ghana effected amendments to the C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences Act, 2019 (Act 1000), in December 2025, the amended Act, which has now been gazetted, formally redesignates our institution as the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), under Act 1161 (as amended).”

The statement indicated that the change takes immediate effect and requires members of the university community to begin using the new name in all official documentation and communication.

“In light of this development, all members of the University Community and our valued stakeholders are hereby requested to update all official documents, correspondence, and letterheads to reflect our new name.” The circular stated.

The Office of the Registrar emphasized that the directive applies to both existing and future materials.

“Kindly ensure that all existing and future documents, including but not limited to reports, official letters, memoranda, and digital templates, are updated accordingly.”
