NPP Chairman aspirant donates batteries to restore Navrongo Fire Tender
NPP chairmanship hopeful moves to support emergency response as fire tender is restored to working condition through battery donation.
An aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman for Navrongo Central, Solomon Kwovia Navanse, has donated two heavy-duty batteries to the Navrongo Municipal Fire Station to help restore the operational capacity of the station’s fire tender.
The donation follows reports that the fire tender had become non-operational due to faulty batteries, a situation that posed a significant challenge to emergency response efforts within the municipality.
Presenting the batteries on behalf of Navanse, a member of his team, Maxwell Adafuga, said the intervention was motivated by concerns about public safety and the need to ensure that the Ghana National Fire Service remains adequately equipped to respond to fire outbreaks.
According to him, fire incidents can occur unexpectedly and affect anyone regardless of political affiliation, social status, or economic background.
“Fire is both a good friend and a bad enemy. When we received information that the municipal fire tender was not functioning, we felt it was necessary to intervene because the safety of lives and property depends on the availability of emergency response services,” he said.
Adafuga noted that a malfunctioning fire tender leaves the municipality vulnerable in the event of a major fire outbreak and stressed that supporting emergency service institutions should be a collective responsibility.
He further called on individuals, organizations, and natives of Navrongo living elsewhere to contribute towards the development of public institutions in the municipality.
“Government and the Assembly cannot do everything alone. We all have a responsibility to support institutions that provide essential services to our people,” he added.
Also speaking during the presentation, Reverend Fortunatus Kaba Agulu, another member of the donor’s team, explained that the need was brought to the attention of Mr. Navanse through discussions with personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service.

He said the aspiring chairman immediately mobilized support to procure the batteries after learning about the operational difficulties facing the station.
According to him, the donation is expected to improve the efficiency of emergency response operations and boost the morale of fire officers.
“What we hope to see is a situation where fire officers can immediately respond to distress calls without worrying about whether the fire tender will start or not. This support is intended to make their work easier and more effective,” he stated.
Rev. Agulu also urged residents and stakeholders to support public institutions, stressing that community development requires the collective efforts of citizens rather than relying solely on government interventions.
He further proposed the establishment of emergency support funds for critical institutions to enable members of the public to contribute towards addressing urgent operational challenges.
The representatives described Solomon Kwovia Navanse as a development-oriented individual who has consistently supported communities and vulnerable persons within the constituency and pledged that such interventions would continue whenever the need arises.
The donation is expected to enhance the operational readiness of the Navrongo Municipal Fire Station and strengthen efforts to protect lives and property within the municipality.
