Kenneth Elvis Anewenah Foundation marks founder’s birthday with benevolence outreach

The outreach, held to commemorate the late Dr. Kenneth Elvis Anewenah’s birthday, provided food, medicines, baby cots and educational materials to vulnerable people and institutions across the Upper East Region.

The Kenneth Elvis Anewenah Foundation, in collaboration with MyTurn Ltd and Lesken Enterprise, has embarked on a benevolence outreach to orphanages, hospitals, the Navrongo Central Prisons and other vulnerable groups in the Upper East Region.

The outreach, held on Thursday, August 20, formed part of activities to commemorate the birthday and preserve the legacy of the late founder of the Foundation, Dr. Kenneth Elvis Anewenah.

The initiative, organised under the Foundation’s annual “Meals on Wheels” programme and themed “Serving God and Humanity,” involved visits to the Centre for Child Development, God’s Love Children’s Home, Hope Children’s Place, Mama Laadi’s Children’s Home, the Upper East Regional Hospital, Navrongo War Memorial Hospital, the Navrongo Central Prisons and the Bolgatanga Main Lorry Station.

Items presented included food, medicines, baby cots and exercise books, among other essential supplies.

The baby cots were donated to the two hospitals, while food and exercise books were presented to the orphanages. The Navrongo Central Prisons received food and medical supplies, while food was also distributed to some vulnerable persons at the Bolgatanga lorry station.

Speaking during the outreach, the Board Secretary of the Kenneth Elvis Anewenah Foundation, Bamidele Amao, said the initiative was a continuation of the founder’s annual practice of celebrating his birthday by reaching out to the poor and vulnerable.

He said Dr. Anewenah used to spend his birthdays with people in need by providing them with hot meals and other forms of assistance.

“Every year on his birthday, he went out and mingled with the poor and needy and shared hot meals with them and gave support in whatever form that people needed.”

Amao said the Foundation and the family therefore considered it important to sustain the tradition, noting that the outreach was the fourth edition since the founder’s death in 2022 and the second to be held in the Upper East Region.

He explained that previous editions had largely focused on communities in Accra, including Nima and Maamobi, where hot meals were provided to vulnerable persons.

According to him, this year’s programme had been expanded to include support for institutions such as hospitals and prisons.

“In addition to the hot meals we always provide, this time around we also have support for facilities like the hospitals and prisons. We have medications and food for the prison, baby cots for the hospitals and exercise books for some of the children in the orphanages.”

The Managing Director of Hope Children’s Place, Joyce Odeh, described the donation as significant to the emotional wellbeing of children in vulnerable circumstances.

She said the gesture made the children feel valued and reminded them that people cared about their wellbeing.

“This is very significant for these vulnerable children. It makes them feel they belong and know that other people think about them.”

Odeh expressed appreciation to the Foundation and its partners for the gesture and appealed for continued support to enable the orphanage to meet some of its other pressing needs.

Other beneficiaries of the outreach also expressed gratitude to the Kenneth Elvis Anewenah Foundation and its partners for the support, describing the donations as timely and valuable to their respective needs.

They commended the Foundation for continuing the late Dr. Anewenah’s tradition of giving back to society and urged individuals and organisations to emulate the gesture by extending support to vulnerable people and institutions.
