Builsa North MCE pledges support for skills training and entrepreneurship

Akogti explained that the Assembly would collaborate closely with the newly trained dressmakers to help them secure suitable working spaces where they can establish their businesses, train others, and contribute meaningfully to reducing unemployment in the area.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Builsa North, Solomon Akogti, has reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to promoting skills development and entrepreneurship as a critical strategy for job creation and youth empowerment in the municipality.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of trainees from the Foundation for Integrated Strategic Training and Development (FISTRAD) on Saturday, January 17, 2026 Akogti congratulated the graduands who completed a three-year training programme in dressmaking.

He commended the trainees for their perseverance and dedication, describing their achievement as a significant milestone in the Assembly’s efforts to equip young people with practical, employable skills.

“The Assembly is committed and ready to support and promote skills training and entrepreneurship in the municipality.”

Akogti further explained that the Assembly would collaborate closely with the newly trained dressmakers to help them secure suitable working spaces where they can establish their businesses, train others, and contribute meaningfully to reducing unemployment in the area.

The graduation ceremony marked the culmination of years of hard work by the trainees, who are now set to enter the workforce as professional dressmakers. The MCE’s pledge reflects a broader strategy by the Assembly to strengthen vocational and technical education, encouraging young people to become job creators rather than depend solely on formal employment.

The Foundation for Integrated Strategic Training and Development continues to play a vital role in vocational development within the region. Through structured, long-term training programmes, the organisation bridges the gap between unskilled labour and professional entrepreneurship.

The success of the graduands stands as a clear testament to the impact of effective collaboration between non-governmental organisations and local government authorities in driving sustainable rural development.
