Isaac Adongo leads Parliamentary delegation to IMF-World Bank spring meetings in Washington
The delegation’s participation highlights Ghana’s engagement with global financial institutions, with discussions expected to focus on economic recovery, debt sustainability, fiscal resilience, and climate financing.
A high-level parliamentary delegation led by Finance Committee Chairman, Isaac Adongo, is representing Ghana at the 2026 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington, DC.
This is according to a statement from Job Aboyom the Bolgatanga Central Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Aboyom said the delegation’s participation underscores Ghana’s continued engagement with global financial institutions as the country navigates complex economic challenges and seeks to strengthen its development trajectory.
At the meetings, the delegation is expected to engage in a series of high-level discussions focused on global economic developments, financial stability, and evolving development policy frameworks.
These deliberations will be guided by data-driven analysis, country experiences, and policy insights presented by both the IMF and World Bank.
Ghana will also use the platform to articulate its national priorities and perspectives to international financial leaders and technical experts.
Key issues on the agenda include strategies to sustain post-pandemic recovery while protecting vulnerable populations and strengthening fiscal resilience.
Discussions are also anticipated to focus on debt sustainability and fiscal transparency, areas seen as critical to restoring investor confidence and ensuring long-term economic stability.
The delegation is further expected to contribute to conversations on inclusive growth and effective public financial management.
Climate financing is set to feature prominently, with attention on scaling support for adaptation and mitigation efforts, particularly in sectors such as energy, agriculture, and disaster risk management.
These discussions come amid ongoing global economic pressures, including inflation, shifting interest rates, and changing trade dynamics.
Ghana’s participation, led by Adongo, reflects a broader commitment to active involvement in global economic governance and alignment with international best practices.
It also highlights the country’s determination to advance the Sustainable Development Goals while strengthening social protection systems and institutional capacity.
The 2026 Spring Meetings are expected to provide an important platform for Ghana to deepen partnerships, amplify its voice in multilateral engagements, and contribute to coordinated global responses to pressing economic and development challenges.
