NNamoo Zone in the North West of the Bongo Constituency in the Upper East Region were on Wednesday, 27th May 2026 crowned champions of the maiden edition of the Member of Parliament for Bongo Constituency, Lawyer Charles Bawadua Adongo’s Eid Ul Adha Cup after beating Feo Zone 1-0 at the Namoo Town Park.
The match formed part of the Member of Parliament’s commemoration of this year’s Eid Ul Adha celebration in the constituency. This is the first time such an event has been organized by an MP in the constituency to celebrate Eid with the people.
Lawyer Charles Bawadua Adongo presented a trophy and a sheep to the champions, while the runners-up received GH¢1,000.00.
Addressing fans of both teams after the match, the MP said the criteria used in selecting the two zones out of the six zones in the constituency was based on Muslim-populated areas in the constituency. He stated that while others were at drinking spots celebrating the Eid festivities, he thought it wise to organize the football competition to celebrate with his people. He also cautioned the youth to stay away from illicit drugs that could endanger their lives.
The Head Coach of Namoo Zone, Mr. Tahiru, said the team won the match due to the experience of some of their players. He added that Namoo Zone needed to establish one strong team that would represent the area in competitions and called on natives of Namoo to support the team in every possible way.
