Omane Boamah, Murtala Mohammed and six others pass on in helicopter crash
According to initial reports, the high-ranking government officials were aboard a Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter en route to Obuasi when the aircraft went off radar.

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah has announced that Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah is among the people who died in the fatal military helicopter crash.
Also, the Minister for Environment, Murtala Mohammed, also died in the crash.
The Chief of Staff announced this to the nation at a press conference in Accra on Wednesday.
Former Ashanti Regional Minister Samuel Sarpong, who was also on board the helicopter, also died.
Others who have been confirmed dead in the crash are Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, and Samuel Aboagye a former Member of Parliament and Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of NDC.
The crew members Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

The helicopter was carrying eight individuals, including three crew members and five passengers, among them the ministers, a presidential staffer identified as Samuel Sarpong, and the ministers’ security detail.
The government expressed deep sorrow over the loss and announced immediate national mourning protocols
