United Party Plus will cause a political tsunami in Ghana – Solomon Owusu
Owusu said the UP Plus is working to establish strong grassroots structures across the country as part of its strategy to transform into a formidable political force.
Solomon Owusu, the Interim National Communications Director of the United Party Plus (UP Plus), has expressed confidence that the party is on course to shake up Ghana’s political scene and offer a credible alternative to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, October 27, Owusu said the UP Plus is working to establish strong grassroots structures across the country as part of its strategy to transform into a formidable political force.
“We believe we need to have offices in all the 276 constituencies. At the moment, we have our interim regional executives and are putting all other structures in place so we can go for the final license,”
“We will do this in record time so that UP Plus will be visible in every nook and cranny of this country. I can assure you that the Upper East Region is one of our strongest bases, and it will manifest in the coming days” He stated.
Owusu revealed that since the official launch of the party on October 16, 2025, membership registration has surged across the country. He described the enthusiasm as a sign of the public’s readiness for change, adding that the UP Plus would “cause a political tsunami” in the country’s political landscape.
“When it was a movement, we did not have structures across the country. But since we launched the political party, the number of people registering daily to join has been overwhelming. We are focused and determined to change Ghana’s politics,” he emphasized.
The Communications Director dismissed claims that the UP Plus is made up of disgruntled or disloyal former NPP members, insisting that the party is built on a clear vision and policy direction, not resentment.
“If our position was based on bitterness, why would we present a clear plan to the people of this country? Our message of change resonated deeply with Ghanaians, even if they did not entrust governance to Mr Alan Kyerematen, the change we advocated for benefited the NDC. This shows that our message has power,” he said.
Owusu added that the UP Plus remains open to alliances and partnerships with like-minded political movements that share the party’s goal of building a prosperous and inclusive Ghana. He called on Ghanaians to rally behind the party as it seeks to break the long-standing dominance of the NDC and NPP.
“Many parties have expressed interest in joining us, and we have a very big heart to accommodate them, including members from both the NDC and the NPP. We want to bring the kind of change that will positively impact the lives of all Ghanaians,” he stated
