NDC communicator rejects claims of hidden motives behind Asiedu Nketiah’s thank you tour

NDC communicator says chairman’s nationwide engagements during 2024 campaign justify personal appreciation tour

A member of the communications team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Navrongo Central Constituency, Godfred Apolala, has defended the ongoing thank you tour being undertaken by the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, dismissing claims that the exercise is politically motivated.

According to Apolala, the NDC Chairman actively led his own campaign engagements across various regions ahead of the 2024 general elections, separate from the national campaign activities spearheaded by President John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, May 25, Apolala stated that there is nothing unusual about the chairman returning to personally express gratitude to party supporters and faithful for their contributions toward the NDC’s electoral victory.

“In 2024, the chairman also had his own campaign team with which he toured the various regions to campaign for the party,” he explained.

Apolala further cited his personal experience during the election campaign period, noting that he engaged in extensive door-to-door campaigning for the President.

He said that despite the Member of Parliament already embarking on a thank you tour, some residents still complain that he has not personally returned to appreciate them after the elections.

“During the 2024 elections, I went round doing door-to-door campaigning. Now the MP has gone round to say thank you, but when some of these people see me, they still say that because we have won power, I have not come back to thank them personally,” he recounted.

According to him, the chairman’s tour is simply intended to acknowledge the sacrifices and support of party members and sympathizers during the election period.

Apolala therefore urged critics not to politicize the exercise or attach hidden motives to what he described as a genuine gesture of appreciation by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.
