Navrongo is gearing up to host an exciting inter-community soccer competition, aimed at fostering unity among communities through sports.
The event, which kicks off on Tuesday April 1, 2025, will feature eight participating teams competing for the coveted trophy and other prizes.
Speaking at the official launch of the competition on Friday March 28, 2025, Francis Xavier Adams, one of the lead organizers, emphasized the importance of games in bringing people together.
“This competition is aimed at bringing the various communities together through football. Games promote unity, games promote coexistence, and games entertain,”
“It is also an opportunity for the elderly to speak to the youth concerning social vices.” -Adams stated.
The event will be held under the theme: “Kick for Unity, Play for a Better Future.”

The representative of the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Chief Imam, Mohammed Musah Daab, who officially launched the tournament, commended the organizers for their efforts. He encouraged participating teams to perform their best while maintaining the spirit of fair play.
The competition will run for three months, from April to June, with matches scheduled every weekend. The opening match will take place at the C.S.O Park in Navrongo, where teams from the Nayagenia and Namolo communities will go head-to-head.

This initiative is not new to Navrongo, as the town has hosted similar events in the past, including the Happy Man Bitters Inter Community Soccer Competition. Such events have been successful in promoting unity and sportsmanship among communities.
The tournament is expected to bring excitement to the municipality, while strengthening community bonds through the spirit of sportsmanship.
