Builsa North MP assures residents of govt’s commitment to complete Chuchuliga–Sandema –Wiesi road

Builsa North MP says arrangements are underway for contractors to return to site, with government also targeting electricity and infrastructure challenges across the municipality.

The Member of Parliament for Builsa North, James Agalga has assured residents of the constituency that the government remains committed to completing the long-awaited Chuchuliga, Sandema, Fumbisi, Wiesi road project.

Speaking on Mike FM’s Tengomisiyerika Dalong programme on Sunday, May 31, Agalga appealed to residents to exercise patience as efforts are being intensified to resume and complete work on the road.

According to the MP, the governing (NDC) demonstrated its commitment to the project by cutting sod for its construction in 2016 and remains determined to see it through to completion.

He described the road as a critical infrastructure project that will significantly improve transportation, facilitate trade, and accelerate socio-economic development across communities within the municipality.

Agalga criticized the previous administration, alleging that despite spending eight years in office, the (NPP) failed to complete the road, leaving residents to grapple with its deteriorating condition.

He disclosed that the government is taking steps to settle outstanding obligations related to the project to enable the contractor to return to site in the coming weeks.

“The NDC government has demonstrated its commitment by cutting sod for the project, and we will complete it. We ask residents to remain patient as arrangements are being finalized for the contractor to resume work,” he stated.

The MP urged residents not to lose hope, emphasizing that the government is committed to addressing the numerous developmental challenges facing communities across the constituency.

Beyond the road project, Agalga noted that government is also working to tackle other pressing concerns, including electricity challenges and critical infrastructure deficits affecting several communities in the municipality.

He stressed that improving road networks, expanding access to electricity, and implementing other development initiatives remain essential to enhancing living conditions and promoting sustainable growth in the area.

The Chuchuliga, Sandema, Fumbisi, Wiesi road has long been a major concern for residents, who believe its completion will boost economic activities, improve access to social services, and facilitate the movement of people and goods within the municipality and beyond.
