Builsa North MP James Agalga receives rousing welcome after appointment as Majority Leader

The Member of Parliament for Builsa North, James Agalga, has received a rousing welcome from constituents following his appointment as Majority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament.

Agalga was welcomed into the constituency on Friday, August 7, during a visit to the palace of the Overlord of the Builsa Traditional Area, Nab Azagsuk Azantilow, and the Chuchuliga Chief’s Palace to formally inform traditional leaders about his new role.

The reception attracted residents and supporters, who expressed excitement over his elevation and confidence in his ability to use the position to advance the development interests of Builsa North and the wider Builsa Traditional Area.

Addressing the gathering, Agalga expressed gratitude to God, President John Dramani Mahama and the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the confidence reposed in him.

He acknowledged the significant responsibilities that come with the position but said he was psychologically prepared for the task and confident that he would deliver with the support of his colleagues in Parliament.

According to Agalga, his role as Majority Leader would require him to help champion President Mahama’s “Reset Agenda” and ensure that Parliament makes the necessary contribution towards achieving the government’s development objectives.

He also assured constituents that his new parliamentary responsibilities would not prevent him from effectively serving the people of Builsa North.

Agalga explained that his parliamentary duties and constituency responsibilities were closely connected, noting that advocacy on the floor of Parliament, constituency engagements and direct interaction with constituents formed an integral part of his responsibilities as an MP.

He cited his previous experience as a Deputy Minister as evidence of his ability to balance national responsibilities with his duties to the people of Builsa North.

The Builsa North MP said his decision to travel to the constituency shortly after news of his appointment began circulating demonstrated his commitment to maintaining close contact with his constituents.

Meanwhile, residents have expressed optimism that Agalga’s elevation to Majority Leader will strengthen his ability to facilitate development projects and attract greater national attention to the needs of Builsa North.

They believe his new position presents an opportunity for him to leverage his influence at the national level to advocate for improved infrastructure, education, roads and other development interventions for the constituency.
