Disunity greatest challenge facing NPP in Navrongo Central – Chairman Hopeful
NPP Constituency Chairman hopeful Solomon Kovia Navanse says restoring unity and reconciling aggrieved members will be his top priority as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.
A New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman hopeful for Navrongo Central, Solomon Kovia Navanse, has identified disunity within the party as its greatest challenge and pledged to prioritize reconciliation and unity if elected.
According to him, internal divisions significantly contributed to the party’s poor performance in the 2024 general elections and must be addressed to improve the NPP’s prospects in future contests.
Navanse made these remarks on Wednesday, June 24, after officially filing his nomination forms at the party’s constituency office in Navrongo.
He noted that his long-standing working relationship with former parliamentary candidates and party executives places him in a strong position to unite the various factions within the constituency.

“I have worked closely with Kofi Adda, Tangoba Abayage, Otito Achuliwor and other party officials. I believe I am the right person to bring the party together and rebuild the unity we need to move forward,” he stated.
Navanse said his campaign team has developed strategies to engage and reconcile aggrieved party members, stressing that every member has a role to play in rebuilding the party.
He described himself as a grassroots-oriented leader who understands the concerns of ordinary party members, particularly the youth.
He cited several initiatives he has undertaken over the years to support young people in the constituency through empowerment and employment opportunities.
The chairman hopeful expressed confidence that the NPP could reclaim its political fortunes in the constituency if the party reorganizes effectively and places greater emphasis on youth development and participation.

“Let us come together as one team. We have only one party, and we must avoid creating camps among ourselves. Give me the opportunity to serve, and together we can secure victory for the NPP in Navrongo Central and contribute to winning the 2028 general elections,” he appealed.
Supporting his candidature, a First Vice Chairman hopeful, Moses Abinnah, described Navanse as a unifier with a deep understanding of the party’s internal dynamics.
“We are looking for someone who is neutral, loyal to the party, and accepted by all sides. That person is Solomon Navanse. He has consistently supported party activities and contributed immensely to the growth of the constituency,” Abinnah said.

Before filing his nomination, Navanse paid courtesy calls on Pe Adatugu Paribajea Abayage Anankware III of Pungu, former Upper East Regional Minister and former NPP parliamentary candidate for Navrongo Central, Tangoba Abayage, and the Paramount Chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area, Pe Asagpaare II, to formally inform them of his intention to contest and seek their blessings.
The traditional leaders and party stalwart wished him well and urged all aspirants to conduct their campaigns peacefully, avoid insults and divisive politics, and promote unity within the party.
They further encouraged contestants to work together after the elections and bring on board those who may not emerge victorious, emphasizing that unity is essential for the development of both the party and the constituency.
Some supporters also shared reasons for backing Navanse’s bid.
Donatus Achuliba, a supporter praised him as a grassroots leader with a strong record of community development.
“He is a young and development-oriented person. Even without holding any official position in the party, he has supported many young people, drilled boreholes for communities, supported sporting activities, and helped secure employment opportunities for numerous youth in the constituency,” the supporter said.
He described Navanse as a unifying figure who has remained above factional politics.
“Among all the aspirants, he is someone who has never engaged in dirty politics. We need a leader who has not stepped on people’s toes and can bring everyone together for the good of the party,” he stated.
