Dr Paarechuga donates equipment to Dewolidaane Flow Keepers to boost sanitation drive

The donation included wheelbarrows, shovels, spades, rakes, pairs of gloves, and brooms to aid the group’s routine sanitation activities.

Dr. Jacob Paarechuga Anankware, Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of General Services at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has donated sanitation equipment to the Dewolidaane Flow Keepers, a volunteer group in the Kassena Nankana Municipality.

The presentation was made on Tuesday, September 23, during a clean-up exercise by the group at major drains in Navrongo township. The donation included wheelbarrows, shovels, spades, rakes, pairs of gloves, and brooms to aid the group’s routine sanitation activities.

Explaining his motivation, Dr. Paarechuga commended the group’s commitment to improving sanitation in the municipality.

“Dewolidaane Flow Keepers is a self-motivated group that has taken the cleanliness of the Kassena Nankana Municipality into their own hands. They realized there are a lot of sanitation issues, so they came together to address them. When I heard about their work, I decided to pay a surprise visit, join them in the exercise, and support them with a few items.” He said.

Dr. Paarechuga also stressed the need for innovation in waste management, particularly in dealing with plastic waste, and linked his support to the broader national sanitation agenda led by President John Mahama.

Donated Items

Amadu Issah Samari, a representative of the Dewolidaane Flow Keepers, who received the items on behalf of the group, expressed gratitude for the gesture, assuring that the equipment would strengthen their efforts.

“We want to use this opportunity to thank our senior brother, Dr. Paarechuga, for taking time off his busy schedule to join us and for this donation. This support will go a long way to boost our sanitation drive.” Samari said.

The Dewolidaane Flow Keepers, made up of young men and women in the Kassena Nankana Municipality, regularly embark on voluntary clean-up exercises to improve sanitation in the area.
