Mahama cannot be trusted to deliver irreversible reforms — NPP Communicator

Ayivere said President Mahama could not be trusted to deliver reforms that future administrations would find difficult to reverse.

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Chiana-Paga Constituency, Benjamin Ayivere Wedam, has questioned President John Dramani Mahama’s pledge to implement irreversible economic and governance reforms, arguing that the President’s track record does not support such assurances.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Wednesday, January 7, Ayivere said President Mahama could not be trusted to deliver reforms that future administrations would find difficult to reverse.

According to him, past actions of the President contradict the bold promises being made.

“Mahama cannot be a man of his word. Is this not the same Mahama who paid nurses one month’s salary for eleven months of work? Is this not the Mahama who promised nurses and midwife trainees that their allowances would be paid promptly every month?” He questioned.

Ayivere further criticised the performance of the current administration in the Chiana-Paga Constituency, stating that after a year in office, the government has made little visible impact in the area.

He contrasted this with projects undertaken by the NPP during its time in government, even in the absence of a sitting Member of Parliament for the constituency

“Under the NPP, schools were built in the constituency without a sitting MP. We have a fully furnished six-unit classroom block at Kajelo with a mechanised borehole, English and Arabic schools with mechanised boreholes at Sakaa, all started from scratch and completed before we left office,” he said.

President Mahama has repeatedly stated that his second term will focus on deep-seated economic and governance reforms aimed at ensuring long-term stability and continuity.

However, Ayivere insists that the President’s past governance record raises serious doubts about the credibility of those promises.
