MCE for Bolga Municipality urges Assembly Staff to uphold professionalism and deliver on their mandate
Bolgatanga MCE Roland Atanga Ayoo has urged Assembly staff to uphold professionalism, accountability and effective service delivery to strengthen public confidence in the municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, Roland Atanga Ayoo has called on staff of the Assembly to demonstrate professionalism and maintain a positive attitude towards their work, stressing that the conduct of every staff member shapes the public’s perception of the Assembly.
Speaking during a management meeting held at the Assembly’s conference hall on Tuesday, June 23, Ayoo said the actions or inactions of even a single employee could tarnish the image of the Assembly and undermine public confidence in its operations.
Ayoo further cautioned departments against shifting their statutory responsibilities to the Assembly’s committees, emphasizing that the committees exist to complement, not replace, the work of public officers.
“The committees are only complementing your work, for which you get paid at the end of every month.” he reminded the staff.
The meeting brought together heads of departments and unit heads of decentralized state institutions to review progress, discuss challenges, and outline plans for improving service delivery in the municipality.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Alhassan Abdulai, opened the meeting by urging participants to make meaningful contributions that would accelerate the municipality’s development.
He subsequently invited each departmental head to present updates on activities undertaken, future plans, and challenges affecting the discharge of their mandates.
Providing a health sector update, a representative of the Municipal Health Directorate, Simon Ajei, disclosed that new HIV infections in the municipality recorded a slight decline, dropping from 109 cases in 2024 to 107 cases in 2025.
According to him, the municipality recorded 34 new infections among males in 2025 compared to 38 in the previous year, while new infections among females reduced from 73 to 71 over the same period.
“In all, there has been a reduction in total new HIV infections from 109 to 107,” he said.
Ajei added that the highest number of new infections was recorded among persons aged between 40 and 44 years, with 26 cases reported within the age group.
Also presenting his department’s report, the Head of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, John Azam, said the department collaborated with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) to trace and reunite six unaccompanied children from Burkina Faso with their families.
He further disclosed that the municipality successfully implemented two payment cycles under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme in 2025, resulting in the disbursement of GH¢939,650 to 1,128 beneficiary households.
