Police arrest suspected drug dealer at Paga
Police arrest 36-year-old man at Paga after suspected cannabis and other prohibited substances are found at his residence.
The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old man, Tumbana Ane, suspected of dealing in illegal drugs at Paga in the Upper East Region.
According to a press release issued by the Upper East Regional Police Command and dated October 5, the suspect was arrested by the Regional Police Intelligence Department (PID) and the Black Cobra Team.
A search conducted at the suspect’s residence uncovered 38 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, as well as other substances suspected to be prohibited drugs, including Tramadol.
The Police said preliminary investigations had established that the suspect was allegedly involved not only in drug dealing but also in operating brothels at an illegal mining site at Wuru.
The Command said a tunnel had also been discovered at the location, which was allegedly used to conceal the drugs and evade arrest.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be arraigned before the court.
The Upper East Regional Police Command has assured the public of its continued commitment to clamping down on drug-related crimes and other illegal activities in the region.
