Regentropfen University College (RUC) in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region, an affiliate of the University for Development Studies (UDS), has held its 8th Congregation and 9th Matriculation ceremony.
The two-phase event, held under the theme “Building Sustainable Futures Through Value-Based Education,” took place on Saturday, November 29, at the school’s premises in Bongo-Namoo.
A total of 70 students graduated with various degrees and diploma certificates, while 679 new students were officially ushered into the institution to pursue degree and diploma programmes.
In his welcome address, Founder and President of RUC, Rev. Fr. Dr. Moses Asaah Awinongya, highlighted the transformational journey of the institution from a small community initiative to a beacon of change and development.
“This University, which at the initial stage was laughed at and asked why in the middle of nowhere a university would be established, has now become a catalyst of change and development.”

Professor George Nyarko, a College Council Member speaking on behalf of the Council Chairman, encouraged the graduating class to remain grounded in the strong values of Regentropfen University.
“To our graduates today, you stand as a doorway to a new chapter. Hold fast to your values, let integrity be your guide, discipline your strength, and innovation your advantage. You are the builders of the sustainable future we dream of, carry the Regentropfen spirit with you in pride.”
He urged the matriculants to embrace their studies and build their character with intention while seeking knowledge and wisdom.

Dr. Yazeed Abdul Mumin, representing the Vice Chancellor of the University for Development Studies, reaffirmed UDS’s commitment to guiding RUC towards the attainment of its own charter. He applauded the university’s growing international collaborations with reputable institutions.
“The University for Development Studies takes pride in RUC’s dedication to maintaining academic discipline and providing high-value education in an optimal environment. As a mentoring institution, we (UDS) pledge our full support to managing the programmes and mounting new undergraduate and postgraduate programs as RUC advances towards achieving its charter.”
Dr. Yazeed also commended RUC’s problem-solving approach to teaching and learning, urging graduates to make both RUC and UDS proud in their professional journeys.

In his goodwill message, the Member of Parliament for Bongo, Charles Bawaduah, praised the institution for its excellence, describing it as one of the best in the country.
“Since its commencement, RUC has proven to be one of the best. I can assure you that this institution has a good name out there.”

The best graduating student, Elizabeth Awinongya Ayambire, described her academic journey at RUC as transformative, reflecting on the sacrifices and guidance provided by the faculty and staff.
“This has been a remarkable journey. As we transition from students to professionals, let’s carry forward the lessons that have shaped us. Let us go into the world as agents of positive transformation, ready to confront challenges with the courage of critical thinkers,” she said.

The school’s Founder, Rev. Fr. Dr. Moses Asaah Awinongya, reaffirmed RUC’s commitment to maintaining excellence.
“At Regentropfen, we build the best environment to be part of that environment,” he said.
He also called on the government to include private universities in the No Fees Stress Policy, exempt private schools from paying the National Service Authority before personnel are posted, and to construct the Bongo–Namoo road.
Established in 2016 as Regentropfen College of Applied Sciences (ReCAS) and later as Regentropfen University College, the institution is accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and affiliated with the University for Development Studies.

The school currently has five faculties and departments, namely: Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences, Department of Business Studies, Department of Education, Department of Computer Science, and the Department of Agriculture and Social Change.
RUC currently runs nine four-year bachelor’s programmes, five diploma programmes, and two postgraduate programmes.
