Prof. Samson Abagale urges perseverance amid life’s challenges

Professor Abagale said understanding the value and rewards that lie beyond difficulties makes perseverance worthwhile.

Professor Samson Abagale, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), Navrongo, has encouraged people to remain steadfast and resilient in the face of challenges as they pursue their life goals.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Thursday, January 8, Professor Abagale said understanding the value and rewards that lie beyond difficulties makes perseverance worthwhile.

“At all levels, we must learn to persevere. Life is not all roses. When challenges come, you work through them, and at some point you overcome them and move to the next phase, where you will meet the roses.” He said.

He noted that the weight of challenges can sometimes make success appear impossible, but emphasized that tackling difficulties one step at a time often provides the breakthrough needed.

“What life has taught me is that you have to keep on keeping on, never despair and never give up.” He stated.

Professor Abagale shared personal experiences of difficult periods in his life that could easily have derailed his academic ambitions, but said persistence enabled him to overcome those obstacles and progress.

He further cautioned against allowing the negative actions of others to weaken one’s resolve or derail one’s dreams.

“If we become discouraged by unkind acts and quit, then we fail. We must continue because we have a vision to achieve, even when others seek to halt our progress. Our contribution is meant to make life better. Others have set the pace for us, and we must improve on it for those who will come after us,” he advised.

Professor Abagale’s life story, he said, demonstrates that achievement is attainable when drive, vision, and focus are combined with perseverance.
